Our client, who is a global leader in the sports goods/consumer goods industry, is seeking a Statutory Reporting Manager, primarily focused on statutory reporting and payroll accounting. The position is based in Amsterdam. Responsibilities include managing the statutory reporting process—covering data gathering, validation, GAAP bridging between Group GAAP (US GAAP) and local GAAP—and coordinating the preparation of statutory financial statements. The role also oversees payroll accounting across the EMEA region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of statutory reporting for all EMEA legal entities
- Collaborate with external service providers on the preparation and audit of statutory financial statements
- Support the preparation of in-house statutory financial statements
- Review statutory financial statements prepared by third-party providers
- Recommend and implement process improvements related to statutory reporting
- Oversee engagement letters and budgets for accounting and audit services
- Manage projects within scope (e.g., statutory reporting systems, legal entity optimization, payroll governance, and mapping)
- Ensure efficient month-end close (MEC) for payroll, maintaining accurate accounting records aligned with US GAAP, corporate policies, and local statutory requirements
- Review P&L during MEC, providing clear and meaningful commentaries on key variances
- Conduct thorough and timely reviews of reconciliations
- Perform SOX controls, ensuring accuracy and complete documentation
- Partner with FP&A and business teams to advise on accounting treatments for complex transactions
- Work closely with the Internal Control team to ensure SOX narratives are kept up to date
- Lead and develop a small accounting team (two direct reports)
QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent)
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS is essential
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Proven managerial experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities, with the capability to influence beyond direct reporting lines
- Fluency in English required; an additional European language is an advantage
- Hands-on, results-driven approach.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Economics, Accounting, or equivalent
- Certified Accountant qualification
- 5–8 years of experience in accounting/finance (including audit or financial consulting), ideally within a global and dynamic environment
- Experience in a publicly listed multinational company is preferred
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS is a must
WAY OF WORKING
- This is a full-time position, and we won't be able to consider part-time candidates
- The office is based in Amsterdam, but the role can be mostly remote (3-4 days per month in the office)
- This is a 6-month assignment via Adams Recruitment.
